Hello – I am Dr. Michael Levy and I want to thank you for considering me as your potential therapist. Seeking therapy can be an intimidating process. It can be scary to reach out for help and when you do, you want to find the right therapist for you. That is why I offer free initial phone or email consultation, so that you can get a sense if you would feel comfortable talking with me.
Life, at times, can be challenging and everyone can get stuck at certain times in their lives, whether caused by a job loss, relationship problems, a trauma, unresolved issues from the past, or even substance use or other addictive behaviors. My goal is to help you make sense of your situation, to give you the tools and insight to make the changes you want to make, and to enable you to lead a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
I work with adolescents and their families, adults, and couples. I am trained in many approaches and work differently with different people. I love what I do and bring passion to my work. I would be honored to work with you in my Andover or Delray Beach office.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I see the practice of quality therapy as a blend of art and science, which is true in all healthcare. I have been trained in what are called evidence-based practices. However, learning skills is different than applying them effectively. If we work together, I will draw upon the many skills I have learned, always ensuring that they fit and are tailored to you.
SUBSTANCE USE AND OTHER ADDICTIVE DISORDERS TREATMENT
While 12-step programs have helped thousands of people with various addictions, they are not the only things that work and some simply cannot relate to the 12-step philosophy. While I am not opposed to 12-step programs, I offer alternative ways to address substance use for people who cannot resonate with that approach. One of the books I wrote is designed to help people who drink too much called “Take Control of Your Drinking…And You May Not Need to Quit”. The book reflects how I work with people - it respects people’s beliefs and values and helps them to figure out the best approach for them based upon the severity of their drinking problem.
COUPLES THERAPY
Couples can also go through rocky times for so many reasons. In addition, if couples cannot effectively communicate with each other, there is no chance of resolving the conflicts. I will help you to understand what is causing your relationship problems and will work with you to ensure that you can constructively talk with each other, a necessary first step to resolving your concerns.
ADOLESCENT AND FAMILY THERAPY
Adolescence can be a time of turbulence, both for the adolescent as well as the parent or parents. In fact, it has been stated that adolescence is the only naturally-occurring form of psychosis! If your child is hurting, it affects the entire family and there are times when parents, without meaning to, may be contributing to the problems. My goal is to first discover what is troubling your child and when needed, to work on improving your teen’s relationship with you and any other family members. I love working with adolescents and would be happy to work with your child.
